Travel

The venue where our symbolic wedding ceremony takes place is a private beach club in Cabeza de Toro, a neighborhood nestled between Bávaro and Punta Cana. It is centered around the lush Laguna Bávaro Wildlife Refuge. The main street, Carretera Cabeza de Toro, connects nearby hotels with the local restaurants and shops. The area offers calm, clear waters, kitesurfing, scuba diving, and deep sea fishing, as well as a Marinarium. The beaches in this area have the “Blue Flag” status, meaning they meet the F.E.E.’s highest global standards for cleanliness, safety, and biodiversity.

_____

Airport & Transport

We recommend flying into Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) in Punta Cana.

The driving distance between this airport and the resorts near Pearl Beach Club is about 10 mi. (16 km), or 15-20 minutes.

After claiming your luggage at the airport, head straight outside to the taxi service area. There are many taxi companies lined up and it is busy. Simply tell them the name of your resort and they will let you know if they transport travelers to that area of the city. Though it isn’t necessary to book airport transportation in advance, here are some options of airport taxi companies that usually drive to the Cabeza de Toro area and more. Click the name to be redirected to the booking website:

HolidayTaxis (flexible cancellation policy that allows changes up to 24 hours before travel)

Kiwitaxi (offers variety of fares based on vehicle class and distance to destination)

Diamond Dominican Transfers (user-friendly online booking, offers additional drink package with transport)

DWJ VIP Services (one of the most highly rated Punta Cana taxi services on TripAdvisor)

The average cost of a taxi ride from PUJ to Cabeza de Toro is between US $17-$22 for up to 4 people, or as much as US $25 or more for a van to transport a larger group.

Cross-check prices of resorts on different travel sites for better deals: Booking.com, Expedia.com, Hotels.com, etc.

Hopper app is a very useful travel tool. Input flights, stays, vehicle rentals, and excursions on the app that you want to book. It will generate the current prices for that purchase and tell you whether that’s cheaper or more expensive than the cost in previous weeks. It also predicts with statistical accuracy when future price hikes and drops will occur. Hopper will recommended a time to book your activity or accommodation when the price is best. You can ask the app to “watch” your search and notify you when the price has changed.

Things to Do

If you are interested in venturing off the property for excursions, there will be a help desk in your resort lobby where you can book activities for a fee. Here are a few suggestions nearby to get you started, too. Click the name below to be redirected to the website:

Scape Park at Cap Cana

A nature park that offers zip lines, swimming in natural springs, an underground cave expedition, a hike through the jungle to the Blue Hole Cenote, and more.

Tripadvisor Boat Tours & Cruises

For water adventures like snorkeling, scuba diving, kitesurfing, deep-sea fishing and more, we recommend checking in with your resorts’ excursion desk to see what deals they have on current trips. Tripadvior is also a useful resource. If snorkeling interests you, look into day trips to the famous, Saona Island.

Dominican Buggy Tour

Not for the faint of heart, but the married couple enjoyed this tour greatly! You will tour a countryside portion of the island on your own dune buggy with a larger group. Visit a lagoon in a cave that’s perfect for cooling off out of the sun, stop at a ranch to preview the production of cacao, coffee, tobacco, and liquor (and taste test!) and swim at popular Macao Beach before heading back home.

Cocotal Golf & Country Club

Located in a gated community in Bávaro, near the Punta Cana airport. It features 3 challenging 9-hole courses. Designed by architect and 6x Spanish golfing champion, José “Pepe” Gancedo, it is built into the natural terrain of the region.

Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.

GIFTS

Most guests are traveling to celebrate with the couple in Punta Cana, so your presence is a blessing and is all that’s asked for. If you also want to contribute to the honeymoon fund, please use Venmo or Zelle. The plan is to travel in the summer of 2025!

Dress Code

Semi-Formal

Ladies: Think dresses, a blouse with skirt, pantsuits, or jumpsuits. Feel free to include printed fabrics, if you like! For flowy dresses and skirts, consider a tea length or maxi length in case of wind. For shoes consider dressy sandals, chunky heels, and wedges for comfort moving around the venue. Please do not wear an outfit that is mostly white or ivory out of respect for the bride; though small amounts of white in a garment are acceptable.

Men: While a jacket and tie isn’t required, a breathable sports coat or nice blazer is encouraged. Don't be afraid to include printed fabrics, if that is your style! For shoes, your footwear can be a little more casual, but we prefer a close-toe option like loafers or boat shoes.

Weather

The wedding takes place in Spring, which usually provides pleasant, warm weather. The average temperature lies between 75°F (24°C) - 84°F (29°C). The average humidity is a mild 74% and if rain showers occur, they are usually no longer than 10-15 minutes. Sunset is between 6:20PM-6:30PM.

The ceremony is on the beach. There are palm trees overhead, providing some shade from the evening sun. The installed aisle is made of connected wooden slats that end in a “T” shape for the couple and wedding party to stand on. Guests will only need to step on the sand to reach their seats off of the aisle. Please be aware of this when choosing footwear.

The cocktail hour and reception are in the main venue space, adjacent to the beach. It is an open-air venue with built-in flooring. There is a transparent tent that’s erected above the length of the venue prior to the event. The tent has side panels that can close off the space to block out inclement weather, should it occur.
